This architectural home on Drummer Cove in Wellfleet, designed by Duane Smith of Hundred Mile House in 2006, was inspired by the mid-century modern heritage in the area. The house has been featured in many books, magazines and design blogs. The mixture of glass and black-stained mahogany siding blends into the rich black-brown pine tree forest, helping the house to almost disappear amongst the natural surroundings. Wellfleet's rugged concrete sea walls inspired the cast concrete lower level. The inverted room arrangement with an open living space on the upper level raises you into the tree tops. Custom Arcadia hurricane-proof aluminum windows and doors beautifully frame the sweeping views of lush oak, pine, birch and cherry trees that surround the house and the saltwater marsh directly across the road. The mahogany front and rear decks provide an easy transition to outdoor living in the warmer months. The oversized sliding doors allow you to open the house up to breezes.
